Pvt. Joseph Pellegrino, a medical corpsman with a paratroop group, who was captured in France on D-day, has been released from Stalag VIIA, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vincenzo Pellegrino, 451 Korreck Ave, learned this week in a telegram from their son. No details of the location or the date of the liberation were given.
Sent overseas in April, 1944, Pvt. Pellegrino trained in England until he participated in the invasion of Normandy June 6 with airborne troops.
He enlisted in the service November 7, 1942, and was trained at Camp White, Oregon until he transferred to the paratroops and took jump instruction at Fort Benning.
