Aunt Fannie

Frances M. Pellegrino, 101, of East Alton passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Eden Village in Glen Carbon.
It is with joy and gladness in our hearts that we celebrate her long and beautiful life.
A daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Bellitto, she was born on February 1, 1921, in Alton, Illinois.
As a young lady, she held various jobs including The Wedge Cafe, Owens Illinois Glass and McDonald Douglas. She then worked at Thrifty Drug in Wilshire Village where she was a cosmetician and retired as a pharmacy technician.
She married James C. Pellegrino on November 24, 1940 at St. Bernard's Church in Wood River. He passed on October 30, 2000 just 3 weeks shy of their 60th wedding anniversary.
Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-laws, Cathy and Bob Hogue of Glen Carbon and Mary and Don Witherow of Bloomington, 4 grandchildren, Rob of Round Lake, Jim of Rochelle, Kristi of Wilmette and Todd of Arlington Heights and 6 great-grandchildren.
Frances was happiest in her kitchen where she spent countless hours cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed baking and sharing hundreds of Christmas cookies with her family and friends. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. She moved to Eden Village in 2009 and spent her days reading, participating in numerous activities and visiting the residents and her friends in the Care Center. She was known for her kindness and sweetness towards her fellow residents and staff members.
